The Mogollon Sporting Association has donated $4,000 to Rim Country Middle School's mountain bike program, providing a significant boost to the youth cycling initiative that has been growing in popularity among Payson's students.

Growing the Next Generation of Riders

The RCMS mountain bike program has become one of the school's most popular extracurricular activities, giving students the opportunity to develop cycling skills, build fitness, and explore the incredible trail systems around Payson. The program teaches not only riding technique but also trail etiquette, bike maintenance, and environmental stewardship.

The $4,000 donation will be used to purchase additional bikes and safety equipment, making the program accessible to more students. Some families cannot afford to provide mountain bikes for their children, and program-owned bikes ensure that financial barriers don't prevent any student from participating.

A Natural Fit

The Mogollon Sporting Association has long been a supporter of outdoor recreation and youth programs in Rim Country. The organization recognizes that mountain biking is not only great exercise but also connects young people with the natural environment that makes Payson special. With trails like the new Ubuntu Trail and established routes throughout the Tonto National Forest, students have access to world-class riding right in their backyard.

Building a Cycling Community

The school's bike program is part of a broader movement to establish Payson as a mountain biking destination. As more trails are built and the cycling community grows, programs like RCMS's help ensure that the next generation of riders is ready to carry the torch. Students who learn to ride in middle school often continue cycling through high school and beyond, creating a lifelong connection to outdoor recreation.

The Mogollon Sporting Association encourages other organizations and businesses to support youth outdoor recreation programs in the community.
